WORLD SCIENCE FESTIVAL BRISBANE

The World Science Festival Brisbane Schools Program returns Wednesday 25 – Friday 27 March.

 

World Science Festival Brisbane is committed to creating engaging experiences for students of all ages, grounded in curriculum and supporting a culture of lifelong learning.

 

The events create important opportunities for young minds to engage with STEM outside the formal classroom environment, and are scheduled specifically to allow students to attend. Stay connected to our social channels and your inbox for the latest news.

Download the 2026 School Planner and then visit the 2026 School Program to book into your preferred sessions.

School bookings must be made through QTIX Group Sales. To book, please complete the QTIX School Group Booking Request form for each event*, or via the Get Tickets link on the World Science Festival Brisbane website.

 

Adult/Child Ratio

One adult will receive FREE entry to World Science Festival Brisbane School Programs for every:

  • 3 x students in Prep
  • 5 x students in Years 1 to 6
  • 10 x students in Years 7 to 10
  • 15 x students in Years 11 to 12

Please note you will need to quote adult numbers when purchasing tickets.

Student Supervision

Group supervisors are responsible for the supervision of students and children while at the World Science Festival Brisbane and should remain with their students at all times.

Queensland Museum

At Queensland Museum we aim to provide access to all visitors. There is easy lift access to the Museum from the car park and for bus and taxi passengers from Grey Street. All entrances and areas are wheelchair accessible. Single user/accessible toilet facilities are located on Level 0, Level 2 and in SparkLab, Level 1. QPAC

Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) provides a range of services, facilities and programs to enable all visitors to attend performances and participate in programs. With advance notice QPAC can accommodate a range of individual needs and strongly encourages visitors to notify staff of any individual needs at the time of booking. World Science Festival Queensland (WSFQ) is a statewide celebration that brings science and awe-inspiring creativity to communities across Queensland.

• HATS AND BAGS: There is strictly no bag storage available at the venue. Please keep school bags at school or on the bus. School bags are not permitted during sessions however students may carry a compact tote bag for food, water and stationery. Hat storage can be accommodated if schools supply their own container/tub.

• WHEN TO ARRIVE: Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your session to sign in and start activities promptly on time.

• CHECK-IN: Proceed directly to the check-in area on arrival.

• PHOTO/VIDEO PERMISSION: Attending educators are responsible on the day for identifying students who do not have consent to be photographed. At check-in, these students will be given a sticker to signal to photographers. Schools may use their own photo permission process or the World Science Festival Queensland photo permission slip (download below). Photos and videos will be used by World Science Festival Queensland and Queensland Museum for marketing purposes.

• BREAKS: Please ensure that students are adequately supervised during breaks. Break spaces are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Food and drinks will be available for sale in Ipswich, Townsville and Toowoomba.

• FIRST AID: Visiting groups should carry an appropriately stocked first aid kit and accompanying supervisors should hold current First Aid qualifications. A standard first-aid kit will be available at the event. Please inform staff of any first-aid or medical situations that arise.

• EDUCATOR STUDENT RATIO: We recommend 1:3 for prep, 1:5 for primary, 1:10 for Years 7–10 and 1:15 for Years 11 and 12.

Schools may use their own photo permission process (strongly encouraged) OR they are welcome to use the provided World Science Festival Queensland photo permission slip below.

This booklet contains a variety of practical task suggestions and printable worksheets that direct students to actively seek valuable learning outcomes and get the most out of their WSFQ experience. Tasks are intended to give to students prior to your visit to complete or consider during the festival. These tasks have been created to be adaptable for a range of year levels.
